Day 1. Belgrade - city tour
Your journey begins with airport pickup and a warm welcome to Belgrade, Serbia’s dynamic capital where history and modern life blend along the Sava and Danube rivers. Depending on arrival time, the tour begins directly in the city center. The exploration starts at Kalemegdan Fortress, the city’s most important historical landmark. Here, at the confluence of the two rivers, you will walk through the Upper and Lower Fortress, see remains of Roman Singidunum, and admire panoramic views from the famous Victor Monument, one of Belgrade’s main symbols.
From there, continue along Knez Mihailova Street, the elegant pedestrian zone lined with 19th-century architecture, cafés, and shops, leading to Republic Square, home to the National Theatre and the National Museum. A highlight of the day is the Nikola Tesla Museum, where original documents and inventions of the great scientist are presented during an engaging guided demonstration.
The tour continues to the monumental Church of Saint Sava, one of the largest Orthodox churches in the world, known for its impressive dome and magnificent interior mosaics. After a traditional Serbian lunch featuring specialties such as ćevapi, pljeskavica, and rakija, you will stroll through Skadarlija, the city’s charming bohemian quarter filled with cobblestone streets and traditional kafanas.
In the afternoon, visit Zemun, a picturesque riverside district with Austro-Hungarian charm, and climb the Gardoš Tower for beautiful views over the Danube.
The day concludes with a visit to the Museum of Yugoslavia, including Tito’s mausoleum, offering insight into the region’s recent history. Return to your hotel with a complete impression of Belgrade’s rich heritage, culture, and vibrant atmosphere.
Day 2. Belgrade Continued
After completing the main city highlights, the remainder of the day is dedicated to nature and panoramic views outside Belgrade.
You will head to Avala, a protected green area and popular excursion spot just south of the city. At the summit stands the modern Avala Tower, where you can visit the exhibition space and enjoy impressive 360-degree views over Belgrade and the surrounding landscape. Nearby is the Monument to the Unknown Hero, an important national memorial from World War I.
After time to relax and take in the scenery, return to the city to complete any remaining activities from Day 1 or enjoy the evening at leisure.
Day 3. Novi Sad - Sremski Karlovci
Begin your day at the magnificent Petrovaradin Fortress, the most iconic landmark of Novi Sad. Known as the “Gibraltar on the Danube,” the fortress offers spectacular views over the river and the city. See the famous Clock Tower, often called the “Drunken Clock,” explore the Upper Fortress viewpoints, and optionally visit part of the underground tunnel system.
Continue with a walking tour of Novi Sad’s charming Old Town, including Liberty Square, City Hall, the Name of Mary Church (Catholic Cathedral), Zmaj Jovina Street, and Dunavska Street with nearby Dunavski Park. Enjoy the elegant façades, relaxed atmosphere, and learn about Matica Srpska, the oldest Serbian cultural institution (exterior view).
After a traditional lunch in the Old Town—featuring regional specialties such as goulash, fish soup (čorba), or Vojvodina desserts—drive approximately 20 minutes to Sremski Karlovci for a wine and honey experience. Discover the picturesque baroque center of Sremski Karlovci, visiting landmarks such as the Karlovci Gymnasium, Patriarchate Court, St. Nicholas Orthodox Cathedral, the Peace Chapel (site of the Treaty of Karlowitz), and the Four Lions Fountain.
The experience continues with a winery visit and tasting, where you will sample Bermet, the region’s famous dessert wine, along with selected Fruška Gora wines. Day 4. Belgrade - Bijeljina - Tuzla - Sarajevo
The day begins in Bijeljina with a short visit to Ethno Village Stanišići. During a guided walk, explore traditional wooden houses, watermills, and the Church of St. Nicholas, with time for photos and a brief break in this charming ethno complex.
Continue with a scenic drive to Tuzla for a compact city tour. Walk through Kapija Square and the main City Square, see the famous Pannonica Salt Lakes (exterior explanation and photos), and view the historic Atik Behram Bey Mosque. Enjoy a quick traditional Bosnian lunch (ćevapi or pita) followed by a short coffee stop along the Korzo pedestrian zone.
In the afternoon, drive to Sarajevo. Upon arrival in the early evening, hotel check-in and optional free walk through the atmospheric Baščaršija old bazaar.
Day 5. Sarajevo Old Town - City Core - Viewpoints
Discover the historic heart of Sarajevo with a walk through Baščaršija, the Ottoman-era old bazaar. See the Sebilj Fountain, Kazandžiluk coppersmith street, Morića Han caravanserai, and visit the Gazi Husrev-beg Mosque, along with the Clock Tower and Bezistan market.
Continue to the Latin Bridge, the site of the assassination that sparked World War I, then visit the Emperor’s Mosque and the impressive Sarajevo City Hall, showcasing Ottoman and Austro-Hungarian architecture (interior if open).

Day 6. War Heritage, Nature & Relaxation
Begin with a visit to the Tunnel of Hope, an important site from the Siege of Sarajevo, where you can see the preserved section of the original tunnel and learn about life during the war.
Continue to Vrelo Bosne, a beautiful natural park at the source of the River Bosna, ideal for a relaxing walk along tree-lined paths (optional horse-carriage ride).
After lunch in Ilidža or a mountain restaurant, enjoy an optional excursion to Igman and Bjelašnica, known for their Olympic ski resorts, scenic viewpoints, and war history sites. Return to Sarajevo with free time in the evening.
Day 7. Sarajevo - Konjic - Višegrad - Kamengrad - Mostar
Depart toward Konjic to visit Tito’s secret Cold War bunker, known as the ARK D-0. This vast underground nuclear shelter, built to protect Yugoslavia’s leadership, is explored on a guided tour (approx. 45–60 minutes). Optional short café break in Konjic before continuing.

Day 10. Return to Sarajevo - Tour Ends
Depart Mostar in the morning and drive to Sarajevo (≈2.5 hours). Enjoy the scenic Herzegovina countryside along the Neretva River valley, with optional photo stops.
Arrive in Sarajevo around midday, with time for a short walk or to visit any missed sites from earlier days. The tour concludes with transfer to the airport or train/bus station and a farewell from your guide, marking the end of the Serbia & Bosnia Escape.
