Our Tours
Since its foundation Penguin Travel has been guided by its restless exploration drive, which is why the main focus of the company has always been on remote and unexplored destinations. We believe that the encounters with distant and completely different cultures and landscapes, have an extraordinary enriching influence on every traveler, which is why our main goal is to offer our clients exciting and unforgettable experiences.
Entering the Bulgarian market, our goal has been to reveal some of the most exotic destinations to the Bulgarian travelers on an affordable price. The destinations offered by Penguin Travel range from Peru/Costa Rica to Thailand/Burma/ Laos/the Philippines/Myanmar, as well as Madagascar and the Siberian Taiga.
As we believe that what makes a journey truly unforgettable is not only the destination but the overall experience, we always try to organize our trips in a way that includes maximum interaction with the local communities, as well as with the surrounding landscapes that we encounter during our travels. This is also why our bestsellers include trips across the Trans Siberian Railway and safaris in South and East Asia.
Accommodation
During our tours we look for accommodation in small and middle-sized hotels, providing all the necessary sanitary conditions and comfort for a multi-day stay. Accommodation is important for us and we carefully chose and test our overnight locations, however it is not the main goal of our trips, which is why you should not expect to be housed in luxury hotels and spa retreats during our trips.
Tour leaders and local guides
We believe in the key role of the guide for every trip, which is why we prioritize on sending guides who can also work at the company, knowing the routes and the logistics of each of our trips. Being adventurous and highly experienced in the tours we offer, our guides are the factor that unites each group and ensures the smooth conduct of our trips.
Most of our distant destination tours include local guides with profound knowledge on their corresponding areas, whose quality we track through the constant feedback of our customers, which we strongly adhere to for each aspect of our trips.
Our clients
Our trips are designed for curious people, willing to explore places and cultures, totally different from the ones they spend their everyday lives. Our tours do not require any specific and intellectual preparation - all we expect from our clients is open mindedness and will to encounter something new, unusual and interesting.
The tours we offer are suitable both for small and middle sized groups, as well as solo travelers, without any age limitations. In case you want to join some of our groups, but do not have someone to accompany you, you are always welcome - our accommodation is usually in double rooms with separate beds, and you can also book private facilities as you pay a single room supplement fee.
Despite the local populations, you will also have the chance to communicate with your fellow travelers, which often results in valuable and lasting friendships. We believe that every shared experience can be a ground for building strong relationships, which is why we strongly encourage our clients to be relaxed and open to each other during our travels.
Group and individual departures. Guaranteed Dates.
On our group trips we keep the right to cancel a trip in case of lack of enough participants. Usually this happens no later than four weeks prior to the departure date, in cases of groups with less than 6-7 participants (the exact number can vary depending on the circumstances). There are also cases when tours are realized with less than the announced minimum number of participants.
All our tour with guaranteed departures can be seen on our site. Most of our trips include only our clients, but sometimes it is also possible to be joined by groups from other agencies with a single English speaking guide.
Our individual departures without a fixed date can be organized upon request, at an additional fee for two or three participants, which is usually listed in the tour descriptions on our site.
When there is a group of less than four people, there are two options:
- the tour to remain closed
- the tour to be opened for other participants, as the date becomes guaranteed at a lower price in case of additional bookings. The sending of the new invoice and the refund of the price difference happens not earlier than 14 days prior to departure.
Tour: Iraqi Kurdistan
★★★★★
My recent trip in Iraq organized by Penguin was excellent from start to end. Both Penguin tour guide (Nessi) and the local guide (Fahad) managed all topics efficiently and facilitated an amazing experience for the group. Now I dream about visiting the Northern part of the country, too.
Tour: Socotra Island Adventures (Yemen)
★★★★★
Thanks for everything in terms of your work and help with this trip to Yemen. It was an amazing experience - one I would recommend to almost anyone. By the numbers of people who travelled to the island, it is only going to get more exposure. The local company was very good - so you can have no problems with them at all. I was really lucky though - there were only 2 of us on the trip - and it was a really nice experience. I will continue to work with Penguin in getting ideas for great places to travel.
