Tour: Iraq - The Cradle of Civilization
The roundtrip in Iraq was an excellent experience with a competent local guide, a good driver, a helpful, effective Penguin-representative, several interesting travellers from different nations and - most important - the tour was based on a very deliberate programme. By visiting museums, souqs, sights and memorials in cities like Baghdad, Babylon, Karbala, Uruk, Nasiriya, Uruk, Ur and Basra we learned a lot about the history, religion, culture and nature of Iraq. The visit with boats to the marshes was a highlight during the journey, the Iraqi people were friendly and the many checkpoints on the road probably necessary because of threatening terrorists.

Tour: Socotra Island Adventures (Yemen)
Thanks for everything in terms of your work and help with this trip to Yemen. It was an amazing experience - one I would recommend to almost anyone. By the numbers of people who travelled to the island, it is only going to get more exposure. The local company was very good - so you can have no problems with them at all. I was really lucky though - there were only 2 of us on the trip - and it was a really nice experience. I will continue to work with Penguin in getting ideas for great places to travel.

Tour: The Caucasus Explorer
The Caucasus Explorer 'Armenia, Georgia, Azerbaijan' tour was fabulous. Communications between the office staff and me were always informative, timely, and precise. The tour was flawless throughout. All the hotels were clean with professional and friendly staff and in convenient locations. Anna, our guide in Armenia, was excellent; the best tour guide. She was better than any other guide in my trips to almost 90 different countries. She was organized, professional, helpful with all questions about the tour, schedules, and activities during our free time. Her chats about the people, religion, culture, language, and history of Armenia were great. But, she offered more than facts; she was enthusiastic about everything she talked about, and manifested a love of her country and its people. Natalia, our guide in Georgia was also excellent. She also was professional, organized, helpful with all questions and issues. Her knowledge of her country's history, language, culture, religion, and people of Georgia was extensive. In addition, she was pleasant and enthusiastic. Kudos! The tour in Azerbaijan was a little sketchy, not as organized. Aref, our guide in Baku, was professional and knowledgeable about the city, its history, culture, and development. Zak, our guide outside Baku, was organized, professional, and enthusiastic. He was very good with his knowledge of the Stone Age petroglyphs, the history of the oil industry, the mud volcanoes and fire mountain. In addition, he added significant information about religion in Azerbaijan, including Zoroastriansim. All in all, a great vacation in three Caucasus countries.

Tour: Madagascar
