Discover the Hidden Paradise: A 7-Day Journey through the Comoro Islands

Itinerary:

Day 1. Arrival in Moroni (Grande Comore)
Arrival at Prince Said Ibrahim International Airport on the Ethiopian flight from Addis Abeba. Transfer to our hotel to check-in and continue on a guided city tour including the old town (the medina and the iconic Badjanani Mosque). Overnight in Moroni. -/-/-

Day 2. Exploring the North of Grande Comore Island
After breakfast we head to the North to the colorful local village of Ntsaoueni with its traditional fishing boats and the the town of Mitsamiouli, the main town in the north, known for its friendly atmosphere and its wonderful beaches. Lunch in a local restaurant is included before we continue to Lac Salé (Salt Lake), a small but unique crater lake located near Mitsamiouli. The lake is set inside a collapsed volcanic crater and has high salinity, giving it an eerie, otherworldly appearance. Back to Moroni for overnight. B/L/-

Day 3. Exploring the South
Today we drive to the village of Iconi, where we find the old Palais de Kaviridjeo, a classic Swahili‑Comorian palace ruin of coral limestone dating back to the 16th century. These ruins tell stories of the old city‑state and its sultans, offering a glimpse into historic architecture and local heritage. After lunch our trip continues to the village of Singani. In April 1977, a powerful eruption from Mount Karthala devastated Singani - lava flows and falling ash ravaged over 60% of the village, turning much of the southern area into rocky, uninhabitable terrain. We visit the the spice plantation of Kafuni before returning to Moroni for overnight. Day 4. Moroni - Anjouan
Transfer to the airport to catch the Precision Air flight (40 min,) to Anjouan. Anjouan (also known as Ndzuwani), often referred to as the “Pearl of Comoros, offers a blend of scenic landscapes, cultural heritage and beautiful beaches. After we check-in at the hotel we visit Mutsamudu Old Town & Citadel. founded in 1482, the historic coastal city of Mutsamudu features winding medina alleys, traditional Swahili architecture, and the striking 18th-century citadel with panoramic port views. Day 5. Anjouan
Day at leisure to explore the soft-sand beaches like Moya Beach and Al‑Amal Beach. Hotel in Anjouan. B/-/-

Day 6. Anjouan - Moroni
Fly back to Moroni. There are no activities planned for this afternoon. Hotel in Moroni B/-/-
