Teteven Balkan Adventure 660 , 5 Days

Тhis Multi Activity Holiday is a wonderful way to explore one of the most beautiful parts of the Balkan Mountains – The Teteven Balkan, and its charming villages, monasteries, caves and breathtaking gorges just a couple of hours drive from the capital Sofia. From our base in the village of Golyam Izvor and the town of Teteven, you can enjoy thrilling activities as diverse as mountain biking, horse riding and hiking. The tour can be extended with an extra day of kayaking in Iskar Lake or a day walk in Vitosha Mountains.

Highlights:
♦ Teteven Balkan - cycle and walk in the foothills of these majestic mountains
♦ Sueva Dupka Cave - its five halls and numerous galleries are full of bizarre cave formations
♦ Glozene St. George Monastery - perched on high cliffs from where a spectacular view is revealed
♦ Varovitets Waterfall and St. Trinity Monastery of Etropole
♦ Teteven - free time to enjoy the hotel pool and spa

Itinerary:

Day 1. Arrival to Sofia.
Transfer to our hotel at the foot of Vitosha Mountain for overnight.

Day 2. Walking Glozene - St. George Monastery- Golyam Izvor
We drive to Sueva Dupka cave where we spend about an hour. Then continue to the village of Glozene. We start walking through old beech forests to Glozene Monastery, where you can see the thousand years old icon of St. George. From the monastery a path climbs gently to Mt. Lisets, offering stunning views over Central Balkan and Teteven Valley. Then following a dirt road we reach Goliam Izvor. Overnight in a guest house.
4-5 hours walking.

Day 3. Horseriding Goliam Izvor - Brusen
After breakfast we say hello to our horses. The trail to Brusen takes us through pine and beech forests and meadows and after 3-4 hours in the saddle we reach Brusen village where we stay in a guest house with a local family.
The ride is suitable for beginners but for experienced riders we offer another longer route offering possibilities for trots and canters.

Day 4. Cycling Etropole Monastery - Yamna - Cherni Vit - Teteven
A short transfer takes us to St. Trinity Monastery of Etropole and the Varovitets waterfall nearby, from where our cycling starts.
We follow a bumpy asphalt road gently ascending (+300 m) to the village of Yamna. Then after a long pleasant descent we pass the village of Cherny Vit before reaching Teteven for overnight.
Cycling distance - 35 km.

Day 5. Teteven
A free day to relax at the hotel pool or to explore the city. Our guide can arrange an optional tour to Chiflik Spa and Troyan Monastery (70 km).
