Why Vitosha mountain?
Situated just within a stone throw away from the center of Sofia, Vitosha offers excellent conditions for winter sports. The mountain, famous for being one of the symbols of the Bulgarian capital has very well organized network of tourist routes, which together with its well preserved nature and unique landmarks offers unique experience. It is also the first park in Bulgaria and on the Balkan Peninsula declared as protected area.

Our snowshoeing routes are precisely selected and recommended by professional mountain guides. As our main aim is to organize unforgettable experience for you and your family, we offer a list of different itineraries from which we will help you find the one that will correspond to your wishes, physical condition and skill level. Our experienced guides, most of them professional climbers and mountain rescuers are acquainted in details with the specialty of the routes (duration, elevation and level of difficulty), the terrain, the local weather conditions, etc. As mountain lovers they spend most of their time in up mountains, improving their knowledge and skills.

Snowshoeing
Famous as the fastest growing winter sport, this entertaining, simple to learn and inexpensive activity gives you the freedom of exploring the beauty of the winter mountain without being an experienced mountaineer. It is a perfect way to discover the untrodden snow wilderness and tranquility of the mountain without getting exhausted, sinking into the deep snow.
You feel worried because you haven’t ever walked with snowshoes?
Snowshoeing does not require any special experience. Anyone can go snowshoeing – it is simply like a natural activity. In spite of that, we know that everyone is a little nervous when trying out a new sport. Keeping that in mind, our experienced guide will predispose you to enjoy your first time out, giving you detailed instructions concerning the use of the equipment and the techniques of walking with snowshoes.
Recommended travel period of the year: January - March
Nessesary equipment: Dress in layers (breathable)! Do not use cotton underwear!
Recommended items: daypack (40 l); thermal underwear; winter walking waterproof boots (hard-soled); gloves/mittens; hat that covers the ears; sunglasses with UV protection; sunscreen lotion; lip balm; water & wind proof jacket & pants;
