Itinerary:

Day 1.Arrival in Resia/Reschen/Surroundings

Day 2.Reschen/Umgebung – Burgeis/Mals
Begin your hike with a leisurely walk along Lake Resia,home to the most iconic photo spot in the Vinschgau Valley — the submerged church tower of Graun.The route continues past Lake San Valentino and across the largest alluvial fan in the Alps, leading you up to the idyllic mountain village of Planeil.From there, descend through forested paths and later through blooming alpine meadows to Burgusio, with a stunning view of the impressive Marienberg Monastery. Day 3. Burgeis/Mals - Schluderns
Walk along the Sonnensteig path, a newly created theme path with fantastic views of the snowy mountain peaks. High above the town of Mals, with its many towers, it goes over the Tartscher Bichl past "Ganglegg", the historic archaeological site from the Bronze and Iron Age to Schluderns, with the most impressive and best-preserved castles in South Tyrol. Day 4. Schluderns - Schlanders
From the foot of Sonnberg your walk starts and continues crossing dense forests. Via Laas, well known for the white marble, you later reach the orchards of Vinschgau – apple trees as far as the eyes can see. B/-/-

Day 5. Schlanders - Naturns
This stage leads you along sunny mountain slopes above the fertile Vinschgau Valley.Following the Latschander Waalweg trail,you’ll hike through the vineyards where some of South Tyrol’s finest wines are produced.You can either continue uphill to visit Messner’s Juval Castle or enjoy a more leisurely walk along the Vinschgau Wine Trail as it descends into the valley toward Naturns. Day 6. Naturns - Meran
High above the valley,follow a panoramic trail through forests and past alpine mountain farms, always accompanied by breathtaking views of the Vinschgau Valley.Continue along the Partschinser and Algunder Waal trails as you descend into the Mediterranean-style spa town of Merano.Here, your tired muscles can relax in the soothing waters of the thermal spa. Arrival by train to Landeck and from there by bus to Reschen, duration approx. 1.5 hours.Or by train via Bolzano and Merano to Malles and from there by bus to Resia/Reschen, duration approx. 30 minutes.Innsbruck or Bolzano airport
Departure by bus and train from Meran to Reschen,duration 2 hours with 1x change in Mals
►You walk mainly on good walking paths, often on the so called ‘Waal paths',ancient water systems as well as on paved sections. The paths are easy to walk, the route is undulating through lovely countryside, dotted with orchards and vineyards.Longer ascents only occur on two of the days. We recommend a good basic fitness level for walking days of up to 6.5 hours.
