If you think of the Maldives as private islands, five-star all - inclusive resorts and prices that could break the bank, maybe you should think again.
Out of the 200 inhabited islands Gaafaru is probably the cleanest and best kept and is only an hour away by speed boat from the capital Malé. It has everything you would associate the Maldives with - beautiful sandy beaches, clear turquoise waters, colorful coral reefs and practically no waves. Best thing is, that there are only three guest houses on the island and their 15-20 guests have the the whole “bikini” beach for themselves.
The activities from Gaafaru include fishing, scuba diving, snorkeling with green turtles.
Day 1. Arrive Male.
Arrive Male airport. Scheduled speedboat to Gaafaru island at 15.30. In case your flight arrives in the morning there is a public ferry between Male airport and Male city center every 10-15 minutes. The trip takes about 15 min and costs ca. 1 USD (10 rufiya)
Day 1-6. Gaafaru
Our guest house is just 200 m from the beach. All rooms have private facilities, AC, TV, free WiFi. Breakfast and dinners are prepared by our hosts. Lunch can be taken in a small restaurant just around the corner.
