The Lure of Central America 1940 €, 13 Days

Four countries, thirteen days, and a route that traces the Maya world from the highlands of Guatemala down to the volcanic lakes of Nicaragua. You'll wander the colonial streets of Antigua beneath its three volcanoes, stand among the carved stelae of Copan, and cross into El Salvador to the artists' town of Suchitoto before boarding a boat to Ometepe, an island formed by two volcanoes rising straight out of Lake Nicaragua. Between the big names there's the hilltop Maya site of Iximche, the deep blue caldera of Lake Atitlan, and the colonial capitals of Leon and Granada, each with a character of its own. This is a proper overland journey, border crossings and long drives included, through a corner of the Americas that most travellers still pass over.

Highlights:
♦ Antigua - a charming colonial city, overlooked by three volcanoes
♦ The impressive site of Iximche, the capital of the Kaqchikel Maya kingdom, dating back to around the 15th century AD.
♦ Copan - one of the greatest  Maya ruins in the Americas
♦ Suchitoto - a charming colonial town on the shores of Lake Suchitlan
♦ Ometepe Island - renowned for its lush forests, tranquil beaches, and a rich array of wildlife

Khiva, Uzbekistan: Things to Do, How Many Days & Getting There

Khiva in short Khiva, Uzbekistan is a walled Silk Road town in the far west of the country, close to the border with Turkmenistan. Its inner town, Itchan Kala, became Uzbekistan's first UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1990. Inside the mud-brick walls you'll find mosques, madrasas, palaces and minarets packed so tightly that you can walk from one gate to the other in about 15 minutes. People still...

Cameroon Tour Guide: Best Places, Costs & Travel Tips

A Cameroon tour delivers more variety in one country than most African itineraries manage across three. Rainforest, volcanic peaks, Sahel savannah, Atlantic beaches and more than 250 ethnic groups sit within a single set of borders - which is why geographers have long called Cameroon "Africa in miniature". It is also one of the continent's least visited destinations, so the crowds you...

Mozambique Tour: Your Complete Guide to Africa's Indian Ocean Coast

A Mozambique tour swaps the safari-vehicle crowds for something rarer: 2,500 kilometres of Indian Ocean coastline, coral reefs that rank among the healthiest in Africa, and an Afro-Portuguese culture you will not find anywhere else on the continent. This is a beach-and-culture destination first, a wildlife one second - and that is exactly why it appeals to travellers who have already ticked off...
