This is the Classical Trans-Mongolian adventure Moscow - Irkutsk - Ulan Bator - Beijing but with a stop in the beautiful city of Yekaterinburg as well.
You can travel year round choosing a period when the visited places are not crowded by tourists. You will have the chance to contemplate the beautiful buildings from tsars’ times in Moscow, to step on the border between Europe and Asia, to touch the waters of Lake Baikal, to explore the busy city of Ulan Bator, to submerge in thousands years of history and culture in Beijing.

Itinerary:
Day 1 (Thursday). Moscow
Arrival to Moscow. Transport to the hotel and accommodation. If you want to spend more time in Moscow you can arrive on an earlier day.
Day 2. Moscow
Free morning to explore Moscow. At about noon departure to Yekaterinburg.
Day 3. Yekaterinburg
Arrival to Yekaterinburg in the afternoon. Accommodation at a hotel.
Day 4. Yekaterinburg
Excursion to Romanov Monastery, built on the place, where the last Russian tsar and his family were murdered, and to Eurasia obelisk, marking the border between Europe and Asia. Back to Yekaterinburg, where you have free time to explore the city before your departure by train to Irkutsk in the evening.
Day 5 & 6. On the train
We pass by some large Siberian cities such as Novosibirsk and Krasnoyarsk. The landscape in this part of the railway switches between coniferous and birch forests and small villages, where development is still far behind the big cities.
Day 7. Irkutsk
Arrival to Irkutsk in the morning, transport to the hotel. The rest of the day is free.
Day 8. Irkutsk - Olkhon
In the morning start of your journey by bus and ferry to the island of Olkhon - the largest in the Baikal lake. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 9 & 10. Olkhon
2 days to explore this beautiful island. You can visit Khoboy cape, the Shaman Rock, go on a hiking tour outside Khuzhir, explore the near cave etc. Overnight at a guesthouse.
Day 11. Olkhon - Irkutsk
You head back to Irkutsk. Accommodation at the hotel and overnight.
Day 12. Irkutsk, departure
Departure in the morning to Ulan Bator. Overnight in the train.
Day 13. Ulan Bator
Arrival to Ulan Bator in the morning, city tour with a visit to Gandan Khiid Monastery, National Museum, Zaisan memorial etc. Accommodation at a hotel and overnight.
Day 14. Ulan Bator - Terelj - Ulan Bator
Excursion to Terelj National park (approx. 75 km) occupying wide territory amidst the vast Mongolian steppes. Here we visit the imposing Turtle Rock and the spiritual centre Aryabal. In the afternoon return to Ulan Bator for overnight.
Day 15. Ulan Bator, departure
In the morning, departure to Beijing.
Day 16. Beijing
Arrival to Beijing in the afternoon, transfer to your hotel. Free time
Day 17. Beijing
A whole day tour to visit The Great Wall and Ming Tombs (only 1 tomb is visited). Overnight in Beijing.
Day 18. Departure
The tour ends after breakfast. You can return home or prolong your stay in Beijing
