Komodo dragons, pink beaches and the amazing nature of Flores

Visiting Komodo Island is a unique experience and the only place in the world you can see dragons! Ours do not really fly and spit fire, but we still bring along an armed ranger, as these guys grow so big and can be a little dangerous. So hop on our boat and let’s explore Komodo, Flores, pink sand beaches and amazingly clear waters.
Flores is such a beautiful place that can easily take few weeks to see everything. We will only scratch the surface, though not miss on the highlights like the Cunca Wulang Canyon.
This castaway paradise with dramatic vistas is a traveler’s dream come true!

Disclaimer: The government has threatened to close Komodo national park for a year from January 2020, due to some issues with tourists. There will be an announcement to clarify the situation, sometime after August 2019.

 Highlights:
♦ Cunca Wulang Canyon and Flores’ amazing nature
♦ Rica and Komodo islands
♦ Pink Beach
♦ Snorkel in clear shallow waters

Day 1: Rinca Island
From the first day we go “hunting” for Komodo Dragon - this largest living lizard on earth. Its length can go up to 3 meters with weight of up to 90 kilo. From Flores’ Labuan Bajo harbor are boarding a boat to take us across this beautiful piece of paradise. First stop is Loh Buaya island. Led by a local ranger we will do 2 hour soft trekking through forest and savanna. Komodo Dragons are often spotted on the way. From the highest point on this hike a beautiful panorama of the surrounding island. We spend the night on board, above the calming waves.

Day 2: Komodo Island & Pink Beach
Early breakfast on board and departure for Komodo island. This trip over blue tropical waters and past hundreds of small island will take approximately 3 hours, until we reach one the rarities of the world - Komodo’s Pink beach. After lunch we will have time to enjoy the splendid underwater world of these rich waters (snorkels and fins are provided). The we go deeper into Komodo island. Next to the dragons, we will search for wild buffalo, deer, pigs and various species of tropical birds like the Cockatoo. We spend the night at Labuan Bajo.

Day 3: Cunca Wulang Walk
We pick you up from the hotel and leave for Cunca Wulang Canyon, nestled in the local tropical rainforest. This is one of Flores' most striking spots. Impressive waterfalls cascade into beautiful, fresh-water pools leading into a series of smaller waterfalls and rivers a few kilometers downstream. This area offers good hiking and it will be a shame if you miss on the swim, too. On the trail we will spot vanilla, coffee, candlenut, cacao while making our way through the jungle. On the way back we will stop at Mirror Cave and a beautiful Panorama Point. We will also check out local market.

Komodo dragons, pink beaches and the amazing nature of Flores (Rated 4.87 / 5 Based on 24 Reviews.)

No special experience is needed; everyone who is in condition to cope with long Saturday walks in the forest can also cope with these tours. As a rule, the trips are short and at a low altitude. Often, it is your choice to join or skip a day-tour. The routes follow a hilly terrain without steep ascents and descents. Normally we walk 3/5h a day.
