5-Day Trail Ride in Rila, Verila and Plana

A 5-day trail through three of Bulagria's mountains: Rila, Verila and Plana during which you get to enjoy the country's amazing landscapes of high mountain peaks, vast green meadows and clear rivers. Rila Ranch is located 60 km from Sofia and 3 km from Samokov. It is in a beautiful regions with a gorgeous view of three mountains – Vitosha, Verila and Rila. Its horses are trained, calm, healthy and strong. They walk confidently on all mountain and forest terrains. Horses for horseback riding are of purebred Arabian breed, Shagya Arab and crosses with them.

Itinerary:

Day 1. Sofia - Dospey village
We will leave the ranch in Dospey village and will ride to the valley of the Lakatitsa River, followed by the Zekeritsa locality, which offers an amazing view of the Rila Seven Lakes circus. After a short break we head to the Vada hut, where will be our first overnight stay. 25 km, altitude 1000 m - 1700 m a.s.l.

Day 2. Vada hut - Verila
After having breakfast and preparing the horses, we will head to Sapareva Banya. We will pass through Obesen kamak locality, ride along the ridge of Lakatishka Rila and not so long after that will descend to Sapareva Banya and relax by one of its its mineral pools We will spend the night at the Verila Campsite. 20 km, altitude  1550 m -  980 m a.s.l.

Day 3. Verila - Belchin Village
Well rested, we will head to the southern slopes of Verila Mountain, after a short ascent we will reach the ridge, from where we again have a view of the Rila Mountain, we will take a short break in a cozy hunting hut, then we will descend into the valley of the Palakaria River and shortly we will reach our final destination - the Belchin village. We will spend the night in a guest house. 25 km, altitude from 980 m - 1415 m a.s.l.

Day 4. Belchin village - Plana village
Today our ride passes through open meadows and exciting forest trails, before reaching the cozy guest house where  we will spend the night. 30-35 km, 930 m -1250 m a.s.l.

Day 5. Plana - Rila Ranch
On our last day, we will have a quick ride on soft terrains in Plana Mountain and in the afternoon we will arrive at the Rila Ranch. 30 km, 1250 - 1000 m a.s.l.
