The territory of Wakhan Corridor where the temperatures doesn’t reach 0 ̊ C more than 300 days per year

Wakhi are small municipality about 12 000 nomads. They occupy this territory which looks like a corridor separated China and Tajikistan from Pakistan at 3000 m a.s.l.

The local people settled down neighborhoods. They don’t use mobile phones or net connection and just few of them have radio. Wakhi could listen some Afghan news but they don’t know about American invasion, the War in 2001, or the Talibans. It’s usual to hear that wakhi are called Pamiri people.  Their land is bounded by the high mountains of the Hindu Kush Karakoram and Pamir.

The northeast part is settled by 1100 kyrgyz people. The religion is ismaili community of Aga Khan. The women don’t know about burka. Other interesting fact from their wellbeing is that they change their yak animals to receive food like wheat, rice or some clothes brought by traders. Wakhi use nets for heating. The mortality is higher in childbirth or influenza.

The Vach Nazara said that the only medicine is opium. The locals are opium addict.
