Destination: Bulgaria!

According to roughguides.com Bulgaria is No. 8 on the list of 10 super exciting destinations for year 2014. Fabulous beaches, balmy weather, low prices, pretty historic towns and friendly people – Bulgaria is an intriguing destination. A sort of cheaper alternative to Croatia it is currently far less touristy. The Black Sea resorts pull in the most visitors, but skiing, hiking and mountain biking are becoming increasingly popular, especially on the mountain massif of Vitosha outside Sofia, the Rhodope Mountains in the south and the towering granite peaks of the Rila."

Things not to miss in Bulgaria:
1. Birdwatching:  The country is a paradise for ornithologists, particularly the areas of Srebarna, Madzharovo and the lakes around Burgas.
2. Rila monastery: The country's most-visited monastic foundation, with fabulous frescoes.
3. Koprivshtitsa: Don't miss this highland village renowned for its role in the April Rising of 1876.

In 2013 Penguin Travel received more than 800 travelers to Bulgaria. It was a growth of more than 30% in 2012. In 2014 , we expect 20% more visitors than in 2013.
