Exploring Cape Verde

Cape Verde, as beautiful as it is mysterious. A child born of the volcanic fury. Those 10 islands...

Located off the coast of West Africa, Cape Verde is a volcanic archipelago made up of ten islands. This stunning destination is a perfect place to enjoy some of the world's most beautiful beaches and experience unique cultures. With a warm year-round climate, Cape Verde holidays offer something for everyone, from sun-soaked relaxation to exhilarating adventure activities.

Sal Island

Sal Island is the most popular of the Cape Verde islands, thanks to its long stretches of pristine beaches and crystal clear waters. The island is perfect for those who enjoy water sports, with opportunities for windsurfing, kitesurfing, and surfing. The Santa Maria Beach is the most famous beach on the island, with a lively atmosphere and plenty of bars and restaurants.

Boa Vista Island

Boa Vista Island is a paradise for nature lovers. The island is home to some of the most beautiful beaches in Cape Verde, such as Praia da Chave and Praia de Santa Mónica. The island is also known for its sand dunes, which are some of the largest in the world. Visitors can take a guided tour to explore the desert landscape and even spot sea turtles during nesting season.

São Vicente Island

São Vicente Island is the cultural heart of Cape Verde, known for its vibrant music scene and lively nightlife. The island's capital city, Mindelo, is a hub of activity with lively bars, restaurants, and music venues. The island is also home to some of the country's most significant cultural landmarks, including the National Museum of Cape Verde and the Monte Verde Natural Park.

Santiago Island

Santiago Island is the largest of the Cape Verde islands, with a rich history and culture. The island was once an important stop for Portuguese explorers, and visitors can still see the remnants of colonial architecture in the capital city, Praia. The island is also home to Cidade Velha, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which was the first European settlement in the tropics.

In addition to its stunning beaches and cultural experiences, Cape Verde is also an excellent destination for adventure activities. Visitors can go hiking in the rugged mountains of Santo Antão Island or take a quad bike tour of the sand dunes on Boa Vista Island. The islands are also known for their excellent fishing opportunities, with chances to catch tuna, marlin, and wahoo.

Cape Verde is a destination that truly has it all, from sun-drenched beaches to cultural experiences and adventure activities. Whether you're looking to relax on the beach, explore the islands' rich history and culture, or get your adrenaline pumping with adventure sports, Cape Verde holidays have something for everyone. So why not consider Cape Verde for your next vacation?

Tour: Iraqi Kurdistan
My recent trip in Iraq organized by Penguin was excellent from start to end. Both Penguin tour guide (Nessi) and the local guide (Fahad) managed all topics efficiently and facilitated an amazing experience for the group. Now I dream about visiting the Northern part of the country, too.

Tour: Socotra Island Adventures (Yemen)
Thanks for everything in terms of your work and help with this trip to Yemen. It was an amazing experience - one I would recommend to almost anyone. By the numbers of people who travelled to the island, it is only going to get more exposure. The local company was very good - so you can have no problems with them at all. I was really lucky though - there were only 2 of us on the trip - and it was a really nice experience. I will continue to work with Penguin in getting ideas for great places to travel.
