Like a canvas where nature has combined the intense green of the pine groves, the massive rocks, the golden sands and the dazzling blue of the sea - that is Costa Brava.

This hiking tour crosses the enchanting Emporda-region, which offers everything Catalonia is famous for: picturesque villages from the middle ages, mountains covered with pine forests, little hills and wide beaches… After the day tours there is a lot of opportunities to relax at the beach or have a great dinner at one of the local restaurants. Indeed, Emporda is very famous for its cuisine and especially for the fish dishes.


Tour Highlights
:

♦ Begur
- The coves along the Begur Coast, between Aiguablava and Sa Riera, are said to be the most beautiful of the whole Costa Brava;
♦ Calella de Palafrugell - This is the first of the three excellent beaches - the others are Llafranc and Tamariu. Its surroundings are considered to be among the finest scenery of Baix Emporda;
♦ Palamos is a modern-looking resort set around a harbour full of yachts, and last stop on the cruceros boat run;
Cap Roig botanic garden was created by Madame de Woevodsky in 1924, they planted 40ha with pines, built a castle and laid out the garden;
♦ Montgri Mountains - Three mountains form the Montgrí range;

 

Itinerary:

Day 1. Palamós / La Fosca
Arrival at Girona Airport. Public transportation or private transfer to La Fosca in Palamos. Overnight in a hotel.

Day 2. Palamós/ La Fosca - Calella de Palafrugell
Today's route goes through the lovely Castell cove rounding the wooded area of Cap Roig (height 130 m), from where we can get an excellent panoramic view. Lodging in the old fishing village of Calella de Palafrugell, which still retains its original charm, in a hotel located on the top of a hill, with a magnificent view over the coast. Walking distance: 8km

Day 3. Calella de Palafrugell - Begur
On the next day the trail leads us to the north always following the coast and going up to the Massif of Begur (height 220 m) with its picturesque town and its medieval castle. Walking distance: 13 km

Day 4. Begur - Fontclara
Slope down to the gentle countryside where you can discover one of the best preserved medieval villages in Pals. Lodging in a rural farmhouse. Walking distance: 12 km

Day 5. Fontclara – L’Estartit
On today's route you discover the medieval nucleus of Palau-Sator and continue in the plains of Empordanet to the river mouth of the Ter river in L’Estartit. Walking distance: 15 km

Day 6. L’Estartit - Montgrí Massif - L’Estartit
Route to discover some of the most wonderful parts of the Montgrí Massif, situated in the North of the village of l’Estartit, from where you have an excellent view of the interior part of the country and the Medes Islands in front of l’Estartit. The route passes by two lovely coves, which can only be reached by foot: Cala Pedrosa. Walking distance: 13.5 km

Day 7. Departure
Departure after breakfast. Optional transfer to the train station of Girona or the important business city of Figueres, where a visit to the world famous museum-theatre of Salvador Dalí is obligatory or optional transfer to the starting point in Sant Feliu de Guíxols.

Luggage transport:   There is organized transport of the luggage for each of the days with changes in the overnight places.
