The 100 Valleys’ Island (at your own pace) is a holiday program that allows you to enjoy of the nature of Gran Canaria at you own pace. Your accommodation will be arrange in some of the most beautiful villages of Gra Canaria (Aguimes, Tejeda, Agaete), located in different places of the Island. From these places you will discover some of the most interesting and beautiful natural places in Gran Canaria. Our agents will arrange your bags transfers, the transfers to the beginning of the end of the routes and the picnics you can enjoy on the way. At your arrival you will receive full information about the trip, the path, and the villages where you will stay. You will love Gran Canaria.

Day 1: Arrival to Gran Canaria - Welcome at the airport and transfer to Agüimes
Agüimes is a little charming town located on the south east of Gran Canaria. It is the departing point when visiting Guayadeque’s Valley, an impressive ravine which enters deep on the centre of the Island. In Agüimes you will enjoy the peaceful atmosphere in its the town centre, the outdoor art museum, with beautiful sculptures located in different places of the village, the colorful houses and the impressive church, which is a Spanish National Monument. Agüimes also offers a rich cultural life and many popular events that take place all year around. There you can also enjoy of the local gastronomy in any of the many restaurants and cafes that you will find on the town centre.

Day 2: Transfer to Aldea Blanca. 1st Self-guided hiking route: Way to Santa Lucía, nature all around.
The Caldera de Tirajana is a place of extraordinary natural beauty, where high mountains meet a deep ravine. On the way you will find some white hamlets, with typical canarian houses, which integrate with harmony on the landscape. This is a land of endemic vegetation and olive trees. On the way you will find the largest palm oasis in the Canary Islands, which will give you the feeling you have just jumped to another place in the world. “La Fortaleza” arises as an impressive rock in the middle of the valley, it held an important community of Canariis (old inhabitants of Gran Canaria). The route finishes in Santa Lucía, one of the most beautiful villages in Gran Canaria, where it is worth making a walk along the narrow streets. This route starts near the sea sea level and follows a dirt road parallel to the ravine, that little by little becomes superlative. A beautiful hike to start your walking trip to Gran Canaria.

Day 3: Transfer to Montaña de las Tierras. 2nd Self-guided hiking route: Natural Triangle of Gran Canaria: Guayadeque, Los Marteles, Tirajana’s Viewpoint.
This walking route takes places in one of the most interesting orographic areas of Gran Canaria: Guayadeque Valley, Caldera de Los Marteles and Tirajana viewpoint.
The route starts at the Montaña de las Tierras, where the Guayadeque Valleys’s begin, there you can enjoy of a beautiful walk around Montaña de las Tierras and enjoy of the picturesques caves houses. From Montaña de las Tierras you will depart in the direction of the centre of the Island, following the valley, until you reach Caldera de Los Marteles (a 500 m. diameter crater). From this point you will follow a path in the middle of the pine forest area that will take to Tirajana’s viewpoint. On the last part of the route you will descend to the Guayadeque’s valley, enjoying of great views over this amazing natural protected area of Gran Canaria. This part of the route becomes a visit to a real botanical garden, full with all type of endemic plants. Little by little you will reach again Montaña de las Tierras.

Transfer to Tejeda and picnic on route
Tejeda is located on the centre of the Island. It is a little village from where you will enjoy of great views over Gran Canaria’s west side, specially is the look over Roque Bentaiga, a sacred rock for the ancient islands’ inhabitants. Tejeda has recently been included on the list of the 10 most beautiful villages in Spain. In Tejeda is located the highest winery in Gran Canaria, which accounts with several awards for the quality of its wines. Also, Tejeda is known for producing almond sweets and pastries, the almond trees that grow on the area give a magical aspect to the village during the month of February. The village offers also the possibility to visit some little traditional museums of great interest.

Day 4: Transfer to Llanos de la Pez. 3rd Self-guided hiking route: Roque Nublo, route to the heart of Gran Canaria. (Llanos de la Pez – Roque Nublo – La Culata – Tejeda)
The Roque Nublo is a natural symbol of Gran Canaria and becomes one of the most interesting ones when hiking in Gran Canaria. The Roque Nublo route runs through some of the most impressive landscapes of the Gran Canaria Biosphere Reservation. You will enjoy, all over the way, of the spectacular views over the valleys and mountains of the west side of the Island. The landscape that you can see on this route was named “The Petrified Storm” by Miguel de Unamuno, in reference to its violent and spectacular shapes. The Roque Nublo Walking Route starts at los Llanos de la Pez, goes on the direction of the Roque Nublo Area, where it is worth making a stop at La Fogalera viewpoint. On your way back to Tejeda we suggest you to stop for a drink at charming La Culata.

Day 5: Transfer to Artenara. 4th Self-guided hiking route: Artenara – Cruz de Tejeda –Tejeda
The route starts in Artenara (the highest village of Gran Canaria), where you can visit the beautiful church, the cave museum and also the Ermita de la Virgen de la Cuevita. After leaving Artenara you will walk along the edge of the Caldera de Tejeda in the direction of Cruz de Tejeda. Most of the route takes place following a path in the middle of the pine forest. You will walk near Cuevas Caballero, a cave complex where the ancient inhabitants of Gran Canaria used to live. The views on the way are spectacular: Roque Bentaiga, Roque Nublo, Acusa, the valleys of the west side of Gran Canaria…. After reaching Cruz de Tejeda, you will follow the path to Tejeda.

Day 6: Transfer to Artenara. 5th Self-guided hiking route: Tamadaba and Valle de Agaete.
You will start this route in Artenara walking in the direction of the Tamadaba forest, one of the primitive and largest forest in Gran Canaria. The views over the Acusa Valley at the beginning of the route are spectacular. Little by little you will enter on the Lugarejos area, where you will enjoy of the quietness of this rural and isolated part of Gran Canaria. You will walk parallel to some water reservoirs (Lugarejos, Los Pérez…). The only way to go aroud the last water reservoir is following a road that will take you to El Hornillo. When you reach El Hornillo you will have amazing views over the magestic Agaete’s Valley. At El Hornillo you can also enjoy of the cave houses and in case you wish, you can have extra natural pure water from a well which is near the cave houses. On the right side of El Hornillo Square you will find the path that will take you to San Pedro: enjoy of the wonderful birdsong which is all around the area and also of the exotic variety of flora. When you reach San Pedro, you will celebrate the way you have seen Gran Canaria with a wine tasting in a local winery.

Picnic and Transfer to Agaete
Agaete is a white little village located on the north of Gran Canaria. Agaete enjoys of wonderful surroundings, such as the beach and harbor, with its little fishing boats, the majestic valley and also the views over the cliffs of Gran Canaria’s west side. Agaete offers plenty of things to do: visiting a coffee plantation, swimming on the ocean of the natural swimming pools, enjoying the town centre quiet streets, trying the local gastronomy in the Puerto de Las Nieves or visiting the various archeological sites you can find on the area.

Day 7: Free Day
We propose you to visit some of the picturesque villages on the centre and north of the Island. Teror and Arucas are especially charming places. Arucas is called the “flowers city”. Take a walk around its beautiful streets, and do not forget to visit the wonderful church San Juan Bautista of neo gothic style. Teror is the main pilgrimage point in Gran Canaria. There is located the impressive Basilica del Pino. Make a stop at the Finca de Osorio, a truly interesting natural place where the romantic gardens mixes with the remains of a laurisilva forest. Day 8: Departure
A transfer brings you to the international airport at Gran Canaria (3 hours before departure).

Practical information: ► Please, note, that the price of the tour is based on standard accommodation at certain hotels. If there is no availability for you at these hotels we will find alternatives but this might change the price-wewillinform you if a supplement should be paid. ►Christmas and New Year are the busiest time of the year in Gran Canaria, so, the programs taking place between December 22nd and January 7th might have a supplement. We will inform you about this supplement if you request your holidays within the mentioned dates. ►During the meeting with the local coordinator, he will recommend you special places in Gran Canaria, special events taking place at the time of your visit and will give you all the trip documents and the Ipad. ► When the weather conditions are not good for certain routes, the guide could change the itinerary ► The routes have a medium-low level difficulty ► Proper walking clothes and shoes are required for the routes.
Necessary equipment: sturdy walking boots and walking socks, a small rucksack, a water bottle with at least 1 litre capacity, sunglasses, sunhat, sun cream, rainwear, insect repellent.
