Sanxia (or the Three Gorges) is a region of beauty and mystery - the most impressive part of Yangtze River.
You will cruise upstream in the cradle of Chinese civilization, discovering its thousand-year-long history, great ancient relics of human civilization, and mysterious legends. The views are stunning – you will drift in the deep quiet canyons with overhanging rocks shrouded in mist, seething rapids and green shores. You will leave deeply touched by this land of magic – one of nature’s most amazing creations.
Tour highlights:
♦ Yangtze River - the longest river (6300 km) in Asia and the third longest in the world, after the Nile in Africa, and the Amazon in South America.
♦ Three Gorges region is a scenic area along the Yangtze River with a total length of approximately 200 km.
♦ The city of Chongqing is the commercial capital of southwest China. It is major port of the upper Yangtze River and gateway to the famous “Three Gorges"
♦ Fengdu - known among the local people as "Ghost City", it combines the cultures of Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism with the mystique of ghosts.
Itinerary:
Day 1. Yichang - embarkation
Arrival to Yichang Airport/Train station, transfer to the city, dinner and embarkation.
Day 2. Xiling Gorge - Three Gorges Dam
We sail upstream through the first and longest gorge - Xiling Gorge. Some renowned streams, springs, stones and karst caves can be found along this section. We visit the Three Gorges Dam - the world’s largest hydro-electric power station still being built.
Day 3. Shennong Stream, Wu and Qutang Gorges
Boat excursion to Shennong Stream with the Three Small Gorges of Danning River, where we can see historic relics such as the ancient plank road, suspended coffins, and the boat coffins. In the afternoon we pass through Wu Gorge. surrounded by strange peaks, grotesque rocks as well as fog and clouds. Further we reach Qutang Gorge, enjoying magnificent views of the high mountains on both banks of the river.
Day 4. Fengdu
Shore excursion to Fengdu. This town is the most characteristic and reputed historic and cultural town in China. Admire the beautiful nature of this region - virgin forests, mountains, everglades, grassland, canyons, and karst caves. In the afternoon we will have the opportunity to learn to play Majong - a Chinese traditional game.
Day 5. Chongqing - departure
Arrival and disembarkation in Chongqing in the morning. City tour with lunch and transport to Chongqing Airport/Train station
