Skaklia Waterfall and Lakatnik Rocks – 1 day
Enjoy two loop hikes in the lands of the picturesque Iskar river valley.
Trip plan:
Transfer (1h) to Bov village. We start walking on the beautiful Vazov eco-trail passing beneath one of the highest waterfalls in Bulgaria – Bovska Skaklia (90m high). The path climbs to the edge of the cliffs with great panoramas to Iskar valley and we reach Zasele village. From there we go down on a very panoramic dirt road to the starting point. We get on the car and drive for 15 minutes to the famous Lakatnik rocks (favorite place for rock climbers, cavers and hikers). We enjoy a lunch in small restaurant next to the natural karts spring Zitoliub (streaming from a cave). Afternoon hike up to the white Lakatnik rocks and then down on the beautiful rocky Petranitsa river valley. We can also enjoy a swim in the numerous crystal clear river pools. Transfer back to Sofia.
